Key Responsibilities

  • •Design datasets, evaluations, and RL environments targeting measurable gaps in frontier vision-language, multi-modal, robotics, and coding models.
  • •Run structured failure analyses on partner labs’ models and write remediation specs for what data closes each gap.
  • •Own the research behind new benchmarks that Roboflow Labs publishes and extends.
  • •Validate dataset quality empirically using fine-tuning, ablation, and measurement.
  • •Contribute to open models (RF-DETR and successors) and collaborate with frontier lab researchers as a technical peer.

Key Requirements

  • •PhD (or equivalent research experience) in computer vision, multi-modal learning, machine learning, or a closely related field with a track record of published work or shipped research.
  • •Hands-on post-training experience including fine-tuning, RL, evaluation design, or data curation for large models.
  • •Strong engineering fundamentals to write code for experiments and productionize it.
  • •Clear written communication to explain model failures and translate them into data specs.
  • •Nice to have: experience at a frontier lab or as a data/evaluation partner, including vision-language models, robotics learning, or agentic coding evaluations.
