Key Responsibilities

  • •Escort defendants to/from courtrooms, cells and other areas, including accompanying them to the toilet to ensure security and safety.
  • •Monitor and supervise detainees in the docks during court sessions to maintain security.
  • •Maintain discretion and confidentiality regarding sensitive information discussed during court proceedings.
  • •Provide support to detainees when listening to distressing testimonies and evidence, maintaining professionalism and wellbeing.
  • •Ensure detainees have access to food and drink and monitor their health and safety while in custody.

Key Requirements

  • •Current valid driver’s license and reasonable physical fitness; strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • •Ability to manage and control situations with professionalism and care, including handling distressing testimonies and information.
  • •Willingness to undertake training (5 1/2 weeks) and work across varied early/late shifts on a 35 hours per week rota.
  • •Interest in criminology or psychology and a commitment to safeguarding and welfare of detainees.
  • •Ability to work as part of a team, follow procedures, and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
