Manage and coordinate production for assigned swine units, overseeing financial performance, production performance (including contract growers), property management, and personnel management across company locations. Ensure biosecurity, safety (SIPS), animal welfare, and environmental compliance through EMS participation and enforcement of environmental laws. Evaluate farm performance, inspect animals, monitor animal movement schedules, and support market sales performance while developing farm managers and employees.

Key Responsibilities

•Manage and coordinate production of all assigned swine units, including financial and production performance.
•Ensure biosecurity, safety requirements (Smithfield Injury Prevention System), and animal welfare policies are implemented and followed.
•Evaluate farms’ performance and create improvement plans and timelines.
•Inspect animals for disease/injury and prescribe medication as necessary; monitor and maintain animal movement schedules.
•Participate in EMS compliance and enforce environmental laws and procedures, reporting environmental issues immediately.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science or related field and 2+ years of relevant experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience), required.
•Experience acting as a lead by training, coaching, or mentoring others, or managing a process or project.
•Valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record per company policy.
•Completion of Prod Spec 1 program or 2 years swine experience preferred.
•Ability to work an average 45-hour week, including weekend, evening, and holiday work as needed, and be on call for emergencies.
