Key Responsibilities

  • •Use independent judgment to provide technical support and expertise to ensure radiation protection programs protect plant personnel and the public.
  • •Review changes to federal, state, and local radiation protection regulations and ensure programs/procedures comply with Federal/State requirements and industry standards.
  • •Develop and maintain analytical efforts in applied radiation protection; perform evaluations, calculations, and problem solving for radiological issues.
  • •Prepare and review reports and changes to procedures, FSAR, Technical Specifications, and other documents to support compliance and plant operations.
  • •Assume Emergency Response Organization (ERO) duties in accordance with the Callaway Plant Radiological Emergency Response Plan (RERP).

Key Requirements

  • •Provide a minimum of four years (Staff) or six years (Senior/Consulting) of applicable experience in radiation protection, with advanced degrees substituting for experience.
  • •Staff: High school (or equivalent); Senior/Consulting: a Bachelor of Science in chemistry, physics, health physics, nuclear engineering, engineering, or equivalent (or equivalent experience).
  • •NRRPT certification or ABHP Part 1 is required/preferred depending on level (Staff vs Senior).
  • •Demonstrate knowledge of radiation protection regulations and industry standards to ensure compliance with Federal/State requirements and technical specifications.
  • •Proficiency with common computer programs, especially Microsoft applications, plus strong interpersonal/communication skills.
