Job Summary

Edit and shape stories for WIRED across desks, including breaking news and deeply reported investigations. Manage syndications from international WIRED brands and bring external stories through the production process, including translated pieces. Collaborate with the science, politics, and security teams and coordinate cross-platform execution with WIRED’s digital video team for platforms like YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram Reels. Represent the brand publicly when needed.

Key Responsibilities

•Edit a variety of stories from across the WIRED newsroom based on need.
•Edit syndicated stories from international WIRED brands to align with editorial style and standards.
•Work with external partners to identify and bring syndicated stories through the production process.
•Collaborate with WIRED’s director and desks to elevate coverage, including tasks such as filing FOIA requests and coordinating freelance contributors.
•Coordinate with other teams (photo/art, fact-checking, social and/or video) and contribute to brand extensions, social platforms, and additional projects as assigned.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 80,000 - 105,000 annually

Key Requirements

•At least 2 years of experience as an editor in a fast-paced, digital, news-driven environment.
•A portfolio showing significant coverage experience in areas such as tech industry, cybersecurity, science, with a consistent record of breaking news.
•Experience overseeing multi-platform content from brainstorm to execution while balancing daily deadlines with longer-lead projects.
•Experience and passion for ambitious coverage, particularly around Big Tech, climate, and core coverage areas.
•Strong collaboration and communication skills working with teams including fact checkers, copy editors, designers, photo editors, and digital producers.
