Job Summary

Provide senior technical and consulting leadership for mine-waste and tailings projects, delivering complex tailings and geotechnical reports and advising clients on challenging tailings issues. Manage and direct project work with significant budget and complexity, including technical direction, quality oversight, and schedules/manpower coordination. Lead safety efforts, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to proposal development and business relationship building.

Key Responsibilities

•Provide senior technical direction and expert consultation on complex tailings issues for projects within the mining industry.
•Manage and analyze tailings and geotechnical reporting, including design/inspection of mine waste storage facilities, deposits, stability/closure considerations, seeping analysis, and water storage dams and earthworks.
•Lead delivery of significant project reports, provide senior review of complex technical outputs, and ensure technical direction and supervision of work quality/quantity.
•Plan and oversee engineering project schedules, coordinate manpower, and support contract negotiation and strategic technical needs.
•Mentor and coach junior and intermediate tailings/geotechnical engineers, contribute to safety leadership, and prepare proposals/reports to build client relationships and pursue new opportunities.

Key Requirements

•Relevant BEng or BSc in Civil Engineering with 10+ years post-graduation experience and developed specialist skills in tailings and geotechnical engineering.
•Professional registration at ECSA is required.
•Honors degree in the Geotechnical field is preferred.
•Knowledge of engineering design legislation supporting water use and waste management license applications.
•Proficiency with MS Word, MS Excel (Advanced), MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook, and MS Projects, plus slope stability analysis, seepage analysis, and modelling software.
