Key Responsibilities

  • •Perform field reconnaissance and geological mapping to identify geologic hazards such as landslides, subsidence, soil liquefaction, and unstable slopes.
  • •Conduct geological and geotechnical site investigations (soil and rock), developing models, cross-sections, maps, and detailed geologic reports.
  • •Analyze geotechnical conditions and prepare technical risk assessments, including support for transportation design and construction.
  • •Oversee fieldwork logistics and supervise drilling/test pit activities, instrumentation, probe hole drilling, and permeability testing; monitor deformation and vibration.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, Geological Engineering, Civil Engineering (with a geotechnical focus), or a related field plus six years of related experience.
  • •Valid US Drivers License.
  • •Experience in geotechnical work with demonstrated experience in underground structures (e.g., tunnels, shafts, caverns, rock reinforcement, grouting, ground improvement).
  • •Proficiency with computer software programs such as Dips, RocSlope, RocFall, and Swedge.
  • •Valid New York State Professional Engineering or Professional Geologist license.
