Job Summary

Developer Advocate who writes, speaks, and helps developers and DBAs effectively use Percona’s open source database solutions. You’ll create technical content, deliver talks, engage with open source communities behind MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Kubernetes and more, and collaborate across Marketing, Product, Engineering, and Support to improve documentation, UX, and the user journey.

Location: Lisbon, Dublin, Toronto, Raleigh, Denver, Madrid

Key Responsibilities

•Create technical content: Tutorials, deep-dive blog posts, reference guides, video walkthroughs, and demos that solve named problems.
•Speak in public: Conference talks, webinars, meetups, podcasts, livestreams with growth potential in audience size.
•Engage upstream: Participate in communities around open source projects Percona builds on (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Valkey, Kubernetes, etc.) and contribute to discussions.
•Engage with the Percona community: Be active on forums, Discord, GitHub, social platforms, and Percona events to welcome contributors.
•Cover Percona’s open source portfolio: Learn and communicate about Percona Server for MySQL/MongoDB/PostgreSQL, PXC, PBM, PMM, Percona Operators, and related projects.

Travel: Low travel

Key Requirements

•Real technical depth: Several years in a hands-on technical role (engineering, DBA, SRE, solutions architecture, developer advocacy, or similar) with production database experience or developer-facing interaction.
•Strong writing: Ability to translate messy technical topics into clear guidance that engineers can follow.
•Public speaking: Track record of talks, workshops, or a strong technical blog/YouTube channel; willingness to grow in public speaking.
•Coding chops: Proficiency in at least one of Python, Go, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, or Rust to write demos and sample apps.
•Open source instincts: Understanding of how open source communities work and how to contribute.
