Job Summary

Design and deliver protection and control systems for electrical power transmission and distribution networks for the UK Energy business. Work within a multidisciplinary team to support the power transmission infrastructure enabling Net Zero, including developing engineering drawings and documentation, performing technical calculations, and ensuring compliance with standards, safety, and environmental requirements. Coordinate with project managers and electrical/construction teams, conduct site surveys, and support installation and commissioning through reviews and quality checks.

Key Responsibilities

•Design protection and control systems for electrical power transmission and distribution networks.
•Develop engineering drawings, specifications, and design documentation using AutoCAD and ETAP.
•Perform technical calculations and analysis to ensure reliability and performance of protection and control systems.
•Ensure designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines.
•Conduct site surveys, collaborate with project managers/electrical engineers/construction teams, and provide technical support during installation and commissioning.

Key Requirements

•Minimum HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering.
•Proven experience designing protection and control schemes.
•Knowledge of electrical networks and relevant engineering standards.
•Ability to interpret technical documentation related to design.
•Knowledge of substation control equipment and standards/protocols such as IEC 61850 and IEC 60870.
