Job Summary

Senior Flood Modeller leading hydraulic and water quality modelling projects across the UK, guiding junior staff, and delivering Flood Risk Assessments and Flood Alleviation Scheme studies. You’ll develop modelling approaches, mentor teammates, and collaborate with clients and multi-disciplinary teams within AECOM’s Water business, leveraging packages like Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, Mike 11/21, HEC‑RAS and ICM.

Key Responsibilities

•Develop and check hydraulic models to assist design of Flood Alleviation Schemes and Flood Risk Assessments.
•Develop water quality models using industry standard software (e.g., MIKE, Delft3D, SIMCAT and/or ICM).
•Conceptualise and scope modelling approaches, considering risks and opportunities.
•Lead and input into tenders for projects and framework contracts.
•Mentor staff, build client relationships, and collaborate across technical disciplines.

Key Requirements

•Significant experience in hydraulic and water quality modelling software (e.g., Mike, ICM, SIMCAT, Flood Modeller and/or TUFLOW).
•Knowledge of Environment Agency requirements in preparing flood models for flood risk assessments.
•Basic understanding of physico-chemical water quality and regulatory standards for fresh waters.
•Strong written and verbal communication skills.
•Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or related discipline; professional qualification with CIWEM or similar preferred; scripting knowledge (e.g., Python, Anaconda, Ruby) advantageous.
