Job Summary

Lead design of tunnelling and underground structures on major civils projects in the UK, delivering design-led outputs, mentoring junior engineers, and coordinating with clients and the wider design team. Responsible for Reinforced Concrete design to Eurocodes for underground works, grasping geotechnical soil-structure interaction, and contributing to project budget and programme. Hybrid role with opportunities on flagship schemes such as Snowdonia Cable Tunnel and London Power Tunnels.

Job Function: Solutions Engineering & Sales Engineering

Key Responsibilities

•Deliver: Act as a Design Lead for elements of a project, liaising directly with clients and the wider design team for the day to day design development but being guided by a Technical Lead / mentor
•Provide Expertise: Manage more junior engineers in the design of infrastructure elements
•Deliver: Provide input to the development of engineering budget and programme to meet requirements
•Collaborate: Liaise with clients and stakeholders to ensure design solutions meet project aims
•Contribute: Support delivery of multi-year, multimillion-dollar tunnelling projects from concept through operation

Key Requirements

•You will ideally be educated to degree level in Civil or Civil & Structural Engineering, and/ or have MSc/MEng in Soil Mechanics/Geotechnical/ Tunnelling Engineering, with/working towards a professional membership.
•Broad experience as a designer in Reinforced Concrete to Eurocodes in relation to underground structures such as secant piles, capping beams, segmental shaft linings, in situ concrete structural elements, D-Walls, shafts and tunnels.
•A Civil or Structural Engineer with good familiarity of Geotechnical Engineering principles as they apply to soil-structure interaction
