Own motion planning, trajectory generation, and guidance laws for high-speed autonomous flight. Work with imperfect, delayed estimator and perception inputs to produce dynamically feasible references for the control loop. Evaluate classical optimization-based methods against learning-based approaches, design perception-aware interfaces, and build mode/failsafe logic. Verify via simulation and SITL/HITL (including Monte Carlo), then iterate using flight-test logs.

Job Summary

Own motion planning, trajectory generation, and guidance laws for high-speed autonomous flight. Work with imperfect, delayed estimator and perception inputs to produce dynamically feasible references for the control loop. Evaluate classical optimization-based methods against learning-based approaches, design perception-aware interfaces, and build mode/failsafe logic. Location: Zurich, Switzerland
Workplace: Onsite
Employment Type: Full time
Job Function: Design (Product/UX/UI/Visual)

Key Responsibilities

  • •Plan dynamically feasible onboard paths with obstacle avoidance, replanning, and perception-aware planning.
  • •Generate feasible trajectory references that respect airframe and actuator limits and hand them to the control loop.
  • •Design guidance laws to steer the aircraft along the reference and hold it there.
  • •Own ego-state and perception input contracts, handling latency, rate, dropout, and behavior when inputs drop.
  • •Verify across simulation, SITL, and HITL (including Monte Carlo), then fly and iterate from logs, mentoring junior engineers as needed.

Key Requirements

  • •Degree in aerospace, robotics, GNC, or a related STEM field (strong academic record).
  • •Proven experience with onboard motion planning, trajectory generation, and tracking, including guidance laws for flying platforms.
  • •Hands-on experience closing a control loop on a perception output, handling latency and dropout.
  • •Familiarity with learning-based planning or guidance and simulation-based training, with the ability to judge tradeoffs vs classical approaches.
  • •Systems-minded and pragmatic about failure modes, disciplined about simulation/validation, and able to communicate guidance/test results to engineers and stakeholders.
