Job Summary

Design and operate the network fabric for a sovereign Google Cloud region, from SDN control/data planes to Kubernetes networking. Own K8s CNI operational patterns, overlay topologies (VXLAN/Geneve), and L3/L4/L7 network policies for tenant isolation. Integrate service mesh with the network fabric, drive reliability engineering (capacity, latency, throughput, packet loss), and handle incident response with follow-the-sun on-call collaboration.

•Operate the platform SDN control and data planes
•Own the Kubernetes CNI plugin choice, deployment, and operational patterns
•Design overlay network topologies (VXLAN, Geneve) for tenant isolation
•Implement L3/L4 and L7 network policies for workload segmentation
•Integrate service mesh (Istio or equivalent) and drive network reliability engineering, incident response, and continuous improvement

Key Requirements

•Minimum 3 years in SRE, Network Engineering, or Platform Engineering with strong networking depth

•Understanding of overlay networking including VXLAN and Geneve with encapsulation
•Automation experience using Terraform or equivalent (network as code)
