Job Function: Software Engineering

Key Responsibilities

  • •Own core pieces of the real-time pipeline, including ingestion from 911 radio, CAD feeds, user video, and partner feeds; detection, verification, geolocation, and distribution.
  • •Build and improve live video infrastructure from phone ingestion through restreaming and delivery via Mux to viewers.
  • •Develop and operate AI-in-the-pipeline services, including evaluation, provenance, guardrails, and audited transitions from human-in-the-loop to autonomous operation.
  • •Create backend services for internal operator tooling (ProtectOS and Regulator) and enterprise/API/MCP/partner integrations (including Axon).
  • •Instrument systems (e.g., Segment events into BigQuery), extend agent workflows for coding/tests/triage, and maintain reliability through an on-call rotation.

Key Requirements

  • •Built and run backend systems at consumer scale with real-time or event-driven workloads, and can describe what happened when systems broke.
  • •Fluent in Go and comfortable with Python for ML and data pipelines, with strong experience on Kubernetes and modern cloud stacks.
  • •Experience carrying a pager for a system people depended on, including a story about an incident.
  • •Production experience putting ML/LLMs into a system with evaluation, fallbacks, and audit—not just demos.
  • •Experience with live video or streaming infrastructure, or the ability to quickly learn and apply similar systems.
