Job Summary

Serve as a materials analysis and metrology subject-matter expert supporting R&D and process teams. Translate project requirements into characterization strategies, investigate materials science and failure mechanisms, and deliver root-cause insights for improvement. Sustain and expand laboratory capabilities by maintaining equipment, validating analytical methods/workflows, and ensuring data quality. Partner cross-functionally to communicate complex findings and may mentor junior scientists.

•Serve as the materials analysis and metrology subject-matter expert supporting R&D and process teams.
•Develop and execute materials characterization strategies based on project requirements.
•Perform deep-dive investigations into materials science and failure mechanisms to identify root causes and improvement opportunities.
•Translate characterization data into recommendations for device design, materials selection, and process optimization.
•Develop, validate, and continuously improve analytical methods/workflows; maintain lab equipment and ensure data quality/turnaround; may mentor and manage junior peers.

Travel: Low travel

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 109,460 - 163,950 annually

Key Requirements

•Associate’s, Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in an engineering discipline or similar technical discipline, with corresponding relevant experience (including or equivalent to Development Engineer II experience).
•Expertise analyzing semiconductor materials and interfaces, with perovskite materials experience a plus.
•Strong command of advanced materials characterization techniques (e.g., XRD/GIWAXS, SEM/TEM, XPS/UPS, PL/TRPL, AFM, TOF-SIMS) and applying results to device stacks.
•Ability to translate analytical findings into actionable guidance for process and device improvement.
•Experience analyzing data with Python or JMP; scripting for data automation is a plus.
