Job Summary

Design and engineer protection systems for bulk power equipment, including substations, transmission lines, generators, renewables, and distribution systems. Apply advanced knowledge in protective relaying, protection analyses (short circuit, time-current coordination, arc flash, and event analysis), and NERC compliance while integrating protection schemes with SCADA. Lead client projects to scope, schedule, and budget, provide technical guidance to junior engineers, and support occasional onsite data collection.

Key Responsibilities

•Design, engineer, and conduct studies for protection systems on the bulk power system, including substations, transmission lines, generators, renewables, industrial, and distribution systems.
•Develop protection analyses such as electrical model development, short circuit studies, time-current coordination, arc flash, and event analysis with NERC compliance.
•Lead teams on client projects to meet scope, schedule, and budget while providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
•Develop relay settings and protection philosophy, integrating protective relaying solutions with SCADA systems.
•Support infrequent onsite site visits to collect project data and discuss project specifics with clients at the appropriate technical level.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET accredited).
•12+ years of relevant post-education experience as an electrical engineer delivering Protective Relaying projects for power generation, transmission, and distribution.
•Professional Engineering (PE) license or ability to obtain one.
•Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
•Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to follow health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies.
