Job Function: Legal, Risk & Compliance

Key Responsibilities

•Own and maintain employment templates, policies, and processes across multiple jurisdictions to keep Oyster’s employment offering compliant, scalable, and operationally effective.
•Monitor global legislative and regulatory developments, assess impact on Oyster’s products/operations, and drive required changes.
•Collaborate with Product, People teams and other stakeholders to design compliant employment solutions balancing legal requirements with business objectives.
•Advise on a broad range of employment law and compliance matters across the employee lifecycle (hiring, compensation, leave, performance management, terminations).
•Support strategic initiatives such as Direct Expansion, indirect-to-direct migrations, and the launch of new employment products/features.

Key Requirements

•Law degree (JD or equivalent) and admission to practice in one or more jurisdictions
•4+ years of employment law experience, ideally combining law firm and in-house practice
•Deep expertise in employment law with hands-on experience in drafting contracts, templates, and policies across multiple jurisdictions
•Understanding of the Employer of Record (EOR) model and ability to navigate its legal challenges
•Experience managing multi-jurisdictional or cross-border employment matters and ability to translate complex legal concepts for non-legal stakeholders
