Key Responsibilities

  • •Own and maintain employment templates, policies, and processes across multiple jurisdictions to keep Oyster’s employment offering compliant, scalable, and operationally effective.
  • •Monitor global legislative and regulatory developments, assess impact on Oyster’s products/operations, and drive required changes.
  • •Collaborate with Product, People teams and other stakeholders to design compliant employment solutions balancing legal requirements with business objectives.
  • •Advise on a broad range of employment law and compliance matters across the employee lifecycle (hiring, compensation, leave, performance management, terminations).
  • •Support strategic initiatives such as Direct Expansion, indirect-to-direct migrations, and the launch of new employment products/features.

Key Requirements

  • •Law degree (JD or equivalent) and admission to practice in one or more jurisdictions
  • •4+ years of employment law experience, ideally combining law firm and in-house practice
  • •Deep expertise in employment law with hands-on experience in drafting contracts, templates, and policies across multiple jurisdictions
  • •Understanding of the Employer of Record (EOR) model and ability to navigate its legal challenges
  • •Experience managing multi-jurisdictional or cross-border employment matters and ability to translate complex legal concepts for non-legal stakeholders
