Key Responsibilities

  • •Manage your own caseload from receipt of papers through to resolution of costs.
  • •Review cases to formulate initial costs strategy and settlement parameters; prepare points of dispute and consider replies.
  • •Negotiate settlement of costs by telephone, and attend conferences, assessment hearings, mediations and court application hearings (remote and in person) for advocacy.
  • •Provide client updates on progress, handle correspondence within SLAs, and conduct periodic file reviews per client requirements.
  • •Ensure performance targets and Keoghs quality standards/SLA, KPI and MI requirements are met; delegate tasks to a paralegal and ensure compliance with SRA Standards & Regulations.

Key Requirements

  • •Minimum 12 months experience in a similar costs negotiator role, handling your own caseload for claimant or defendant.
  • •Degree and/or LPC and/or ALCD qualification.
  • •Previous experience of client liaison, including taking instructions and providing advice verbally and in writing.
  • •Experience of the Detailed Assessment process, including preparing Points of Dispute and considering replies.
  • •Good telephone negotiation skills and understanding of current costs case law and insurance litigation practice and process.
