Job Summary

Own the software architecture for an autonomous hydrogen airship, defining how onboard and ground systems are structured, built, tested, and deployed. Work close to the hardware with a hardware abstraction layer that lets the HyLighter behave as a single coherent machine. Set up CI/CD and continuous-development workflows for reliable flight software, and extend PX4-based flight code and the QGroundControl ground station to fit mission needs in a small team.

Key Responsibilities

•Define the global software architecture for embedded onboard and ground systems with clean interfaces and modularity for extension and testing.
•Design and maintain a hardware abstraction layer that decouples application logic from underlying hardware to control sensors, actuators, and subsystems as one machine.
•Set up CI/CD and continuous-development practices, including pipelines, automated testing, and build/release workflows for reliable development and deployment.
•Extend and integrate PX4-based flight software and the QGroundControl ground station to meet HyLighter needs.
•Improve robustness and reliability of avionics and embedded software, and drive system architecture studies for future features and payload/data-capture integration.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 50,000 - 70,000 annually

Key Requirements

•Engineering degree (or equivalent) in Embedded Systems, Software, Electronics, or Computer Engineering.
•Solid embedded development experience with a clear shift toward software architecture, including ownership of a non-trivial embedded codebase structure.
•Hands-on experience setting up CI/CD and continuous-development workflows with pipelines, automated testing, and build/release tooling.
•Experience with PX4 plus MAVLink and QGroundControl, ideally on a drone/aerial robotics product that reached real operation.
•Strong programming skills in C/C++ and Python, with good practices like versioning, code review, and testing.
