Job Summary

Lead logistics strategy across inbound and outbound freight, distribution networks, and material handling for a national building materials footprint. Own freight activity covering HR, safety, and operations for the Morristown, TN distribution facility, and influence shipping quality and productivity at manufacturing sites. You’ll analyze logistics performance and cost impact, negotiate carrier services, ensure DOT and safety compliance, and improve parcel handling through new technology and inventory/process optimization.

Key Responsibilities

•Analyze logistics to recommend the most cost-effective or efficient means of transporting products and supplies.
•Develop inbound/outbound logistics strategies, including own vs. leased equipment decisions and 3rd-party carrier selection.
•Resolve transportation and logistics system problems and coordinate with customer service to manage deliveries and address damage or delays.
•Analyze financial impact of logistics changes (routing, shipping modes, volumes/mixes, carriers) and recommend optimal modes, routing, equipment, or cadence.
•Ensure compliance with regulatory and legal authorities (including DOT for the private fleet) and company safety policies.

Key Requirements

•10+ years logistics/distribution multi-site management experience across diverse transportation modes, including leading and managing logistics teams to implement best practices.
•Well-versed in business and management principles such as strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership, and coordination of people and resources.
•Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and costs to maximize manufacture and distribution of goods.
•Knowledge of multi-channel distribution, ERP and TMS systems, with strong Excel skills.
•Willing and able to travel up to 50% to company plants or regional offices.
