Key Responsibilities

  • •Act as manufacturing test technical authority for powertrain systems across inverter, drive unit, and battery test architectures.
  • •Review and approve powertrain-level test strategies, specifications, and major change requests to ensure consistency, manufacturability, and scalability.
  • •Define common testing principles for end-of-line (EOL) and in-process testing, including sequencing, limit strategies, failure-mode handling, safety, and data traceability.
  • •Review test system designs for HV/LV safety, grounding, shielding, thermal considerations, and connectorization standards across powertrain stations.
  • •Provide technical mentorship and lead reviews for externally supplied test equipment, including supplier selection and design validation; partner with Controls Engineering for station integration.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s degree in controls systems, electrical and controls, or automation and control engineering, plus at least 5 years of professional experience.
  • •8+ years developing, launching, and supporting automated test equipment in high-volume manufacturing environments.
  • •Prior EV powertrain experience, with direct exposure to two or more of traction inverters, electric motors/drive units, or high-voltage battery modules/packs.
  • •Strong EV high-voltage testing knowledge, including safety requirements and methods like insulation resistance/hipot and functional power testing.
  • •Ability to define test strategies and guide hardware/test system design using industrial platforms and test frameworks. (Examples listed: NI PXI/cDAQ/cRIO; LabVIEW/TestStand; Python/MATLAB; Vector/CANoe.)
