Key Responsibilities

  • •Provide Microsoft SQL Server support including implementation and deployment, installation/configuration, patching, and upgrades.
  • •Investigate and resolve SQL issues to a highly technical standard, including SQL blocking, replication/DR problems, and disk space root-cause fixes.
  • •Plan and undertake changes to software/hardware as agreed with the customer, assessing user requirements and producing technical specifications.
  • •Execute database administration tasks for data warehouse sustainment: execute data loads, perform data modelling, manage user permissions, schedule jobs, and troubleshoot failed jobs.
  • •Implement and maintain infrastructure planning/installation methodology, prepare systems documentation, and follow ITIL change management while monitoring infrastructure services and improvements.

Key Requirements

  • •3+ years of parallel experience setting up and maintaining production Microsoft SQL Server instances with strong infrastructure deployment experience.
  • •Excellent understanding of SQL Server infrastructure (including 2008–2019), plus experience patching and upgrading SQL versions.
  • •Strong knowledge of database performance tuning and troubleshooting using DBCC commands and DMVs, including identifying missing indexes and slow queries.
  • •Experience with installation and configuration of SQL failover clustering, configuring log shipping and mirroring, and implementing backup/recovery and disaster recovery plans.
  • •Good experience with replication setup and DTS/SSIS, plus installing/configuring SQL Server Reporting Services and SQL Management Studio.
