Job Summary

Own and evolve Kpler’s Supply & Demand data platform, generalising the S&D data model from crude oil to all commodities. Lead the shared Python ETL framework into a reusable foundation, set reliability/latency/observability/security/cost targets, and steward data-quality and release readiness. Shape external/webapp API contracts used by clients, run incident response, and partner with Product and Research to deliver a roadmap while mentoring engineers.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead the technical direction for generalising the S&D data model from crude oil to all commodities, including trade-offs between design, reliability, time-to-market, and execution.
•Evolve the shared ETL Framework in supply-demand-core into a reusable foundation for multiple commodity verticals, preventing bespoke pipeline divergence.
•Own publication reliability end to end, including anomaly-detection guardrails, release path, and data-quality gates for customer readiness.
•Set and raise non-functional targets (reliability, latency, observability, security, cost) across the crew’s Python engine, TypeScript APIs, and Airflow orchestration.
•Partner with Product and Research on the technical and feature roadmap (including the SuDeP pipeline), and mentor engineers while leading design reviews and incident prevention.

Key Requirements

•5+ years of experience as a software engineer delivering production systems.
•Experience owning end-to-end design trade-offs and production outcomes for technically ambiguous, business-critical projects.
•Deep experience building and running data-intensive Python backends (ETL/orchestration, relational data modelling, SQL/Postgres).
•Experience operating systems in production including on-call, observability, incident response, and preventative follow-ups.
•Ability to set technical direction for a team and be the go-to consultant on hard design decisions.
