Job Summary

Provide industrial metal processing support for FAA Logistics Center requirements by fabricating and repairing equipment and fixtures. Perform painting and metal finishing operations such as sandblasting, chemical etching, alodining, sanding, stripping, dipping, mixing, etching, silk screening, and stenciling. Inspect completed work for conformance to FAA and manufacturer specifications, interpret blueprints and technical documents, maintain tools and chemical tanks, and follow environmental and hazardous waste handling requirements.

Key Responsibilities

•Independently perform metal processing trade duties including fabrication, repair, sandblasting, cleaning, sanding, power washing, priming, staining, painting, chemical processing, silk screening, and applying markings.
•Apply approved painting and metal finishing processes such as stripping, dipping, mixing, etching, alodining, sand-blasting, and stenciling to finish and refinish NAS equipment and fixtures.
•Inspect fabricated or processed items to ensure conformance with FAA or original manufacturer specifications, technical documentation, and modification instructions.
•Interpret applicable instructions, blueprints, specifications, and standards; use and maintain tools and equipment used in metal processing operations.
•Maintain chemical balance and tanks, perform sanding booth and sandblaster maintenance, maintain metal finishing tank records, and handle and dispose of hazardous chemicals and waste per environmental requirements.

Key Requirements

•Practical experience in metal processing, including fabrication, repair, sandblasting, cleaning, sanding, power washing, priming, staining, painting, chemical processing, and silk screening, with experience reviewing and interpreting drawings/blueprints.
•Knowledge of metal processing techniques and finishes, including chemical etching and anodizing, plus surface preparation and identification.
•Knowledge of personal protective equipment and applicable environmental standards, with the ability to understand and follow technical specifications.
•High school diploma required; associate degree or vocational training desired.
•Must possess two forms of unexpired identification to meet eligibility requirements.
