Key Responsibilities

  • •Own the strategy and execution for Root’s platform engineering and AI engineering functions.
  • •Lead teams responsible for AI enablement, CI/CD pipelines, AWS infrastructure, and the data engineering platform.
  • •Partner with Product, Data Science, Quantitative Science, Security, and business leadership to align platform priorities.
  • •Establish and maintain reliability, security, and operational excellence standards across shared infrastructure and AI systems.
  • •Develop talent strategy and cultivate engineering managers and leadership pipeline across multiple teams.

Salary: USD 217,000 - 285,000 annually

Key Requirements

  • •12+ years in software engineering across individual contributor and management roles.
  • •7+ years as a people manager, including experience managing managers.
  • •Experience leading platform, infrastructure, or AI/ML engineering organizations and setting technical strategy.
  • •Proven track record developing engineering managers and building inclusive, high-performing teams.
  • •Comfort with ambiguity and making principled decisions with incomplete information.
