Job Summary

Build and ship applied ML systems that power Ads Content Understanding signals for Reddit’s Monetization org. Own the full ML lifecycle for knowledge graphs, taxonomies, opinion mining, and shopping/product understanding—covering problem framing, modeling, evaluation, deployment, monitoring, and oncall. Lead evaluation and quality monitoring (including LLM-judge practices), define SLOs and dashboards, and apply modern LLM and distillation best practices to deliver monetization impact.

Key Responsibilities

•Operate across the full ML lifecycle (problem framing, data, modeling, evaluation, deployment, monitoring, and oncall) and design scalable ML pipelines with responsible AI in production.
•Provide technical leadership and mentorship for MLEs and SWEs working on ML in ACU, including design reviews and setting technical standards.
•Develop evaluation systems and quality monitoring for content understanding signals using LLM-judge practices.
•Drive operational excellence by defining SLOs, alerting, and dashboards for key signals like coverage, latency, precision/recall, and cost.
•Build and operationalize new content understanding capabilities and drive LLM/modern ML best practices including prompt strategy, fine-tuning/distillation, and replacing external APIs with in-house models.

Key Requirements

•5+ years building and delivering production ML systems (models, pipelines, and serving) at scale, ideally for content understanding or Ads.
•Senior-level technical leadership through architecture decisions, standards, and design reviews within your team.
•Strong communication skills to explain complex trade-offs to PMs, DSs, and engineering partners in ambiguous, cross-team problems.
•Experience shipping NLP/language models and content understanding models to production with clear business outcomes; commercial/intent modeling is a plus.
