Key Responsibilities

  • •Develop and check hydraulic models using tools such as Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, MIKE, HEC-RAS, and ICM to support flood alleviation schemes and reservoir flood studies.
  • •Develop water quality models (e.g., physico-chemical, biological, bacterial, or chemical) using industry standard software such as MIKE, Delft3D, SIMCAT, and/or ICM.
  • •Lead conceptualisation and scoping of modelling approaches, considering risks and opportunities.
  • •Undertake and check hydrological assessments including Flood Estimation Handbook, ReFH2, and WINFAP.
  • •Lead and input into tenders, mentor team members, and build client relationships while delivering outputs using project management systems in line with programme and budget.

Key Requirements

  • •Significant experience using hydraulic and water quality modelling software such as MIKE, ICM, SIMCAT, Flood Modeller, and TUFLOW.
  • •Demonstrable knowledge of Environment Agency requirements for preparing flood models for flood risk assessments.
  • •Basic understanding of physico-chemical water quality and associated regulatory standards for fresh waters.
  • •Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or a relevant discipline.
  • •Obtained or near to obtaining professional qualification with CIWEM (or similar); scripting knowledge (Python/Anaconda/Ruby) is advantageous.
