Job Function: Hardware, Embedded & Systems Engineering

Key Responsibilities

  • •Develop conceptual designs for electrical distribution systems from EHV, HV, MV to Low Voltage incorporating high voltage equipment, generation equipment, UPS plant, low voltage switchgear and power control and monitoring systems
  • •Lead the design of data centre electrical systems and equipment
  • •Provide written reports of system options in the form of design development notes
  • •Produce technical specifications for electrical systems, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and client requirements
  • •Coordinate with other disciplines including Architect and Structural engineers

Key Requirements

  • •Chartered status with CIBSE or IET (or working towards Chartered status) or equivalent experience
  • •Technical knowledge of relevant UK & EU regulations, design guides, etc
  • •IT literate with a technical understanding of relevant IT packages i.e. Trimble (formally Amtech)
  • •An understanding of the ETAP software package for HV modelling (Fault current, current flow & harmonics)
  • •An understanding of the Neher-McGrath method of calculating underground cable temperatures & ampacity
