Job Summary

Assist Herd Technicians with routine animal care and general farm tasks to support animal welfare. Perform feeds, watering, vaccinations, sanitation, animal movement, and piglet processing including medicating, castrating, docking tails, and ear notching. Maintain accurate production records and provide treatment to sick animals using prescribed methods. Follow animal welfare, environmental, safety, and biosecurity procedures, and help with facility/equipment maintenance and barn cleanliness.

Key Responsibilities

•Feed, water, vaccinate, and perform general animal husbandry tasks, including basic veterinary procedures.
•Sanitize and wash farm areas using high-pressure equipment and maintain barn/office cleanliness and laundry duties.
•Assist with moving animals and maintaining efficient animal flows, and provide for animals’ health, growth, and breeding.
•Process piglets including injecting medications, castrating, docking tails, and ear notching.
•Maintain accurate production information and update department records; treat sick animals with prescribed pharmaceuticals and follow SOPs, animal welfare, environmental, safety, and biosecurity procedures.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 16 hourly

Key Requirements

•High school diploma or GED (preferred).
•Previous livestock handling helpful.
•Ability to do hard physical labor.
•Strong commitment to teamwork.
•Ability to follow instructions and work an average 48-hour work week, including weekend, evening, and holiday work as needed.
