Key Responsibilities

  • •Support the Country Head of Audit in leading, developing, and delivering the Shariah Audit Plan, including annual planning, end-to-end audit execution, and reporting to senior management and the Shariah Committee.
  • •Lead and coordinate assigned audits across the full lifecycle: announcement, team mobilisation, planning, fieldwork, documentation and review, issue drafting and agreement, report delivery, validation, and ongoing stakeholder engagement.
  • •Ensure audits are completed efficiently and effectively with due regard to risk, scope, nature, and materiality of in-scope entities.
  • •Deliver audit work in line with established methodology, quality standards, and professional requirements, with appropriate documentation and timely reporting.
  • •Communicate issues and associated risks clearly to senior stakeholders and colleagues; build relationships with senior management, the Shariah Committee, and first and second line of defence functions.

Key Requirements

  • •University degree and relevant professional qualification(s) in accountancy, finance, risk management, Islamic finance, Shariah and/or Islamic banking.
  • •Strong knowledge of Islamic Banking operations, Shariah compliance requirements, and banking risks, processes, and controls.
  • •Ability to stay current on developments in banking and Islamic finance, including industry trends, markets, and regulatory expectations.
  • •Strong verbal and written communication skills, including presentation and influencing to deliver difficult messages to senior stakeholders.
  • •Proven experience in internal audit, Shariah risk, risk management, compliance, or business management, including managing multiple concurrent priorities.
