Key Requirements

  • •3+ years of experience as a reporter at newspapers, news websites, magazines, wire services, or other news outlets.
  • •Experience in Washington, D.C. covering Congress for a subscription news outlet, wire service, or news bureau is strongly recommended.
  • •Excellent news judgment with the ability to find creative ways to scrutinize relationships among Congress, the White House, the judicial branch, and lobbying efforts.
  • •Strong written and verbal communication skills, including mastery of AP style.
  • •A commitment to accuracy, objectivity, fairness, and editorial independence; a college degree is helpful but not essential.
