Key Responsibilities

  • •Provide technical leadership, owning design solutions and guiding others.
  • •Lead the technical assurance of hydraulic systems, sub-systems and equipment for the next generation Royal Navy submarines.
  • •Verify calculations are complete and meet technical intent, reviewed by SQEP.
  • •Support the team in tackling technical challenges and ensuring robust technical solutions.
  • •Coordinate programmatic initiatives and lead additional work packages outside the normal system scope.

Key Requirements

  • •Extensive experience in the design of hydraulic systems in safety-critical environments (e.g. maritime, defence, nuclear, oil & gas, sub-sea).
  • •Proven ability to deliver system lifecycle work from concept through commissioning, with leadership in technical direction and mentoring.
  • •Strong experience with hydraulic power units (HPUs), variable frequency drives (VFDs), control cabinets, pumps, electric motors, hydraulic actuators, hydro-static transmissions and fluid mechanics.
  • •Chartered engineer or working towards professional accreditation.
  • •Ability to lead technical assurance for hydraulic systems and coordinate cross-disciplinary design activities.
