Job Summary

Analyze and underwrite highly complex insurance risks across Specialty programs, balancing pricing, coverage, and acceptability with customer and business goals. Lead development and integration of new and existing underwriting programs, tools, and guidelines, and make reinsurance recommendations. Collaborate with claims, actuary, compliance, and other partners, review compliance with regulations and reinsurance conditions, and provide training and mentoring to underwriting team members while maintaining program relationships and driving growth.

•Review and analyze highly complex individual risks, programs, and referrals, and determine acceptability, pricing, coverage, terms, and conditions.
•Develop and implement underwriting guidelines, rates, forms, product endorsements, and related procedures; assist with department policies and methodologies.
•Engage with reinsurers and compile data for presentations, ensuring proper use of treaty, semiautomatic, and facultative reinsurance facilities.
•Collaborate with internal business partners (e.g., claims, actuary, compliance) to resolve escalated issues and support program initiatives.
•Lead implementation of new programs end-to-end (guidelines, filings, compliance/regulatory, finance, reinsurance, claims, legal, accounting, actuarial, and marketing) and train/mentor underwriting team members.

Key Requirements

•Typically 5+ years of experience as a Professional, Financial and/or Specialty lines underwriter.
•Underwriting knowledge of Professional, Financial, and/or Specialty lines, including policies, practices, procedures, and insurance law.
•Strong understanding of financial documents and financial analysis, including investments and market conditions.
•Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with internal and external business partners.
•Ability to analyze mathematical, statistical, and logical data; manage complex programs with project and process management skills.

Education:Bachelor's in Finance, Accounting, Economics, and/or Risk Management
