Key Responsibilities

  • •Provide development management advice to protect the operation, safety, and future performance of the Strategic Road Network.
  • •Review planning application documentation for development proposals affecting the SRN and provide technical assurance/sign-off for recommendations.
  • •Oversee complex, high-profile planning consultations and coordinate the compilation/review of advice from AECOM specialists for client reporting.
  • •Lead contract delivery activities including workload planning, budget preparation/monitoring, KPIs, and management of deadlines and resources.
  • •Recruit, mentor, and develop transport planners and consultants, guiding technical teams and supporting diversity and inclusion within the team.

Key Requirements

  • •Degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Spatial/Urban Planning, or a related field.
  • •Membership (ideally Chartered) of a professional body such as the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation (CIHT), Transport Planning Society (TPS) or Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT).
  • •Extensive post-graduate experience in transport planning.
  • •Strong leadership and team management capabilities with a proven track record in leading, developing and mentoring individuals and teams.
  • •Comprehensive knowledge of UK transport planning principles, policies, and regulations, including experience with strategic and local transport modelling and transport planning tools/software.
