Job Summary

Staff Software Engineer - SRE for Grafana Cloud databases, focused on production reliability of multi-tenant SaaS databases (Mimir, Loki, Tempo, Pyroscope) across AWS, GCP and Azure. Partner with product squads, own high-SLA reliability, design SLOs, reduce toil, lead incident response, and drive scalable observability and automation in a remote, globally distributed team.

Key Responsibilities

•Regular 1:1s with your manager and colleagues.
•Reviewing and creating SLOs, proactively investigating ways to further reduce budget burn for those SLOs, which can be self-directed or from incident learnings.
•Improve observability of customers within their environments.
•Designing and implementing solutions to ensure reliability and scalability of our environments to meet rapidly increasing demands.
•Develop fault-tolerant design patterns ensuring reliability is considered at all stages of the service lifecycle.

Key Requirements

•8+ years engineering experience, 4+ in SRE/CRE/production engineering with strong preference for formal customer reliability engineering experience.
•Strong Kubernetes experience in AWS, GCP, or Azure, and familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tooling (Helm, Terraform, Jsonnet, etc.).
•Strong experience with technical leadership, guiding a team through projects, mentoring other engineers, and acting as a force multiplier.
•Experience operating multi-tenant systems in production.
•Strong experience designing and implementing SLOs.
