Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead end-to-end lifecycle of specialized manufacturing tooling for solid rocket motors from concept and detailed design through prototyping, validation, full release, and factory implementation.
  • •Act as design authority for tooling including jigs, fixtures, molds (propellant casting/insulation), assembly aids, test fixtures, and specialized ground support equipment.
  • •Drive design using CAD, engineering analysis (FEA, DFM, DFA), and simulation to ensure tooling is robust, repeatable, ergonomic, and optimized for high-rate manufacturing.
  • •Own prototyping and validation by overseeing fabrication, assembly, testing, and iterating to improve performance and manufacturability.
  • •Collaborate with manufacturing, quality teams, and external vendors to define requirements, troubleshoot tooling issues, create documentation/work instructions/quality plans for owned tooling, and continuously improve performance and lifespan.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related technical field.
  • •3-8+ years of professional mechanical engineering experience with a significant focus on manufacturing or production engineering.
  • •Proven ability to own mechanical design from concept through full production release and factory implementation.
  • •Direct experience designing, prototyping, and implementing production-grade manufacturing tooling (jigs, fixtures, molds, assembly aids, test fixtures).
  • •Advanced proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks, NX, CATIA) plus FEA and strong DFM/DFA knowledge; experience with GD&T per ASME Y14.5; U.S. Person status required for export-controlled data access.
