Job Summary

Drive automation and large-scale perturbation studies for fibrotic disease by building robust mono- and co-culture models and transitioning manual workflows into automated arrayed screens. Optimize multiplexed imaging and biochemical assays for functional phenotyping, perform data analysis and QA, and communicate results across Discovery, Technology, and automation teams. Work with multimodal readouts spanning transcriptomics and proteomics using high-content imaging and cell painting.

Key Responsibilities

•Integrate human primary cell lines into monoculture and co-culture models suitable for large batch production and high-throughput readouts, including QC.
•Characterise and optimise multiplexed imaging and biochemical assays to deliver functional phenotyping readouts.
•Transition manually developed perturbation models into automated arrayed screens.
•Develop and implement new technologies, workflows, and operational infrastructure, including automated laboratory systems.
•Conduct data analysis and QA, stay current with scientific literature, and communicate outcomes to internal teams and external parties.

Key Requirements

•PhD with 5+ years experience and demonstrable knowledge in assay development and/or target validation.
•Strong background culturing primary and immortalised cell lines and running functional disease-relevant endpoints with reproducibility and sensitivity.
•Hands-on experience with high-content imaging and cell painting, including image capture and data interpretation.
•Knowledge of CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing for modulating gene expression in 2D and 3D cell systems.
•Experience running pathway-modifying perturbation screens and working with automated laboratory systems.
