Job Summary

Operate and control an asphalt paving machine to safely and efficiently place asphalt. Follow directions for daily tasks and job-site expectations while managing material feed into the paver and controlling the depth and distribution through the equipment. Ensure a safe work environment by following safety policies and OSHA/MSHA requirements, perform minor servicing/maintenance, and communicate effectively with supervisors and crew members.

Key Responsibilities

•Control and operate the asphalt paving machine to place and distribute asphalt.
•Manage material taken into the paver and control the depths of material distributed through the machine.
•Ensure efficient working condition of the equipment by performing minor servicing/maintenance or referring major problems to the supervisor.
•Follow safety policies and procedures and properly comply with OSHA/MSHA regulations and company policies.
•Follow directions for daily tasks and expectations for each project/job site and communicate effectively with crew members.

Key Requirements

•High school diploma or GED required, with two years of related asphalt and road construction experience.
•Prior experience operating asphalt paving equipment.
•Thorough understanding of asphalt paving industry topics including grades, drainage, paving patterns, aggregate size, job specifications, oil consistencies, and compaction.
•Pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check, and pass a pre-employment “Fit for Work” physical.
•Willing to travel extensively for a portable paving crew and work nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
