Job Summary

Assess and underwrite E&S/Small Market Management Liability risks for renewals and, over time, new business submissions. Analyze applications, financials, governance, litigation, and industry conditions to determine pricing, coverage terms, and renewal actions. Serve accounts by issuing quotes, binders, and policies, manage territory production and loss-ratio goals, and build broker relationships to generate profitable premium.

Key Responsibilities

•Analyze and review applications, financial statements, company management/prospects, industry prospects, legal structure, and outstanding litigation.
•Determine appropriate insurance programs (layer attachment, terms, conditions, pricing) and recommend alternatives such as declining or non-renewing coverage.
•Service existing and/or new accounts, including preparing quote letters and issuing binders, policies, and endorsements.
•Achieve production and loss ratio goals by analyzing premium and loss results and promoting company products and programs.
•Monitor industry trends and build effective broker relationships to generate profitable premium; participate in underwriting meetings as needed.

Key Requirements

•Undergraduate studies with focus in finance, accounting, economics, and/or risk management (degree preferred).
•One or more years of related experience as a D&O, EPL and/or E&O Underwriter (preferred).
•Knowledge of underwriting policies and practices, insurance law, and underwriting marketing principles.
•Ability to analyze financial statements, insurance risks, policy language, rating plans/methodologies, and reinsurance.
•Effective communication skills and demonstrated negotiation ability; ability to use/learn job-related computer software.
