Job Summary

Lead tailings and dam-safety engineering at Highland Valley Copper by supervising engineers and technicians to support safe dam performance, manage risk, and advance GISTM maturity. Reporting to the Superintendent Geotechnical, you’ll oversee instrumentation programs, field investigation work, compliance with regulatory requirements, and oversight of external engineering consultants. Partner closely with construction/operations and stakeholders during the Highland TSF expansion, maintaining schedules, budgets, and conformance to industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

•Be a safety leader and sponsor safety and environmental rules, including Visible Felt Leadership (VFL) field visits.
•Supervise and mentor engineers and technicians, and develop capacity within the group.
•Function as Deputy Responsible Tailings Facility Engineer or Responsible Tailings Facility Engineer and BC TSF Qualified Person, based on experience.
•Account for the dam safety instrumentation program, ensuring scheduled data and surveillance activities and reporting KPIs.
•Plan, manage risk, execute field investigation programs, and provide oversight of work by external engineering consultants.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: CAD 138,000 - 170,000 annually

Key Requirements

•Bachelor or Master’s degree in Civil, Geological/Geotechnical, Mining Engineering or equivalent.
•Registered, or eligible to register, with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC) as a P. Eng.
•Minimum 8 years of geotechnical engineering and tailings management experience.
•Understanding of planning and scheduling principles and procedures.
•Computer skills including Microsoft Office, Maximo, AutoCAD, Muk3D, and other geotechnical software.
