Job Summary

Join WSP’s Land team to lead and support land acquisition, rights, and consents for UK infrastructure projects. You’ll negotiate with landowners, advise on legal mechanisms (DCO, CPO, TCPA, TWAO, Hybrid Bills), manage compensation, and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams across the UK, with hybrid working between offices and field sites.

Key Responsibilities

•Negotiate access to and acquire land for complex, high-profile infrastructure projects across the UK, including drafting and preparing consent documents.
•Secure land rights for large-scale development projects and provide strategic land advice to clients.
•Utilise statutory powers and other mechanisms to acquire land (DCO, CPO, TCPA, TWAO, Hybrid Bills) for highways, rail, energy, and renewables.
•Negotiate Heads of Terms with large-scale landowners to secure land for projects in a timely fashion.
•Liaise with landowners, land agents, legal representatives, planning authorities, stakeholders, contractors and clients to progress land-related matters.

Key Requirements

•Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
•Proven track record in the delivery of land and property related services.
•Experience negotiating with complex landowners and robust knowledge of the legal process for the acquisition of property and rights.
•Understanding of landownership and occupation across the UK and the implications for securing agreements for landowners.
•Experience managing and settling a range of voluntary and compulsory purchase compensation claims (e.g., HOTs, wayleave, easements, EA agreements).
