Job Summary

Develop embedded software for Ciena’s Service-Aware Operating System (SAOS), a modified Linux-based NOS, supporting customers deploying virtualized networks. You’ll participate across the software lifecycle—from requirements analysis and architecture/design through implementation, testing, and troubleshooting. Build unit tests and test automation suites, improve resiliency and maintainability, and collaborate with product owners and system architects while writing clear technical documentation.

•Develop embedded software on Ciena’s NOS (modified Linux operating system).
•Participate in requirements analysis, architecture/high-level design, implementation, and testing.
•Troubleshoot software issues and provide customer and verification support.

•Collaborate with product owners and system architects to evolve software applications while improving resiliency, debuggability, and maintainability.

Key Requirements

•Strong analytical, problem-solving, and programming skills using C, C++, and Python.
•Knowledge of Linux development environment and familiarity with open-source software development.
•Hands-on or familiarity with network routers/switches or routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP.
•Experience or familiarity with containers and Kubernetes, plus automated test frameworks (e.g., Jenkins).
•Ability to communicate clearly with strong technical documentation skills and excellent organization to manage priorities.
