Key Responsibilities

  • •Provide technical engineering advice to corporate and operating units for investment-property review and programs that support and expand existing mining operations.
  • •Ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations, safety and environmental regulations, MSHA rules, and applicable SOPs and work-area instructions.
  • •Lead mine engineering support including mine design, mine access and development, mining methods, equipment selection, mine planning, cut-off grade determination, backfill methods, mine services, and ventilation.
  • •Provide liaison support in project management, including engineering, procurement, and construction management, and oversee contracted engineering design groups.
  • •Manage and direct studies by external consultants, prepare budget-related estimates and capital expenditure justifications, and provide weekly/monthly contractor progress updates.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor of Science degree in mining engineering, or MBA or equivalent preferred, or proven experience with financial/economic analysis.
  • •Minimum 5-7 years relevant experience in mine operations/projects, mining methods and ground conditions.
  • •Underground mining experience is required; open pit mining experience is a plus.
  • •Ability to interpret company policies and resolve work problems in accordance with the grievance procedure.
  • •Willingness to comply with company policies and procedures related to Safety, Human Resources, and Environmental.
