Job Summary

Provide leadership on intellectual property matters for RTX’s Corporate, RTRC, and RTX BBN Technologies teams. Lead IP strategy, licensing, enforcement, and education; advise senior leadership and engineering groups; supervise outside counsel; collaborate cross-functionally to protect domestic and foreign IP, including patent prosecution and related agreements.

Key Responsibilities

•Serve as an intellectual property thought leader and expert regarding processes and procedures.
•Provide leadership regarding intellectual property matters, licensing, and support enforcement of rights and defense of the company against IP claims.
•Provide proactive, effective and timely guidance to senior leadership, general counsel, contract support personnel, and across engineering and business organizations on IP, digital and general legal matters.
•Provide training in IP areas to Research Center, RTX BBN Technologies and Corporate TGE employees.
•Independently perform duties and coordinate with Research Center General Counsel and peers as appropriate.
•Lead high-level engagement with technical, legal and management personnel and participate in meetings with external companies to advise on IP and other matters.
•Establish and execute domestic and foreign IP protection strategies within the group and technology areas of responsibility.
•Develop and implement IP strategies for Research Center, RTX BBN Technologies and Corporate TGE and its projects.
•Supervise outside counsel in preparation and prosecution of domestic and foreign patent applications.
•Draft and negotiate government contracts, development agreements, software licenses, NDAs and other agreements; advise management on various agreements.

Key Requirements

•Juris Doctorate (JD) with five years of relevant intellectual property experience (in-house or at a law firm)
•Member in good standing of a US state bar
•Registered to practice before the US Patent and Trademark Office
•Strong written and verbal communication skills
•Willing to travel 10-15% on occasion
