Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead protocol and pre-construction desert tortoise surveys and monitoring, including handling/rehydration/health assessment experience.
  • •Conduct focused burrowing owl surveys and monitoring, including passive relocation.
  • •Conduct focused American badger and desert kit fox surveys and monitoring.
  • •Perform general wildlife and/or botanical surveys including vegetation and habitat mapping; identify and record fauna/flora.
  • •Support project execution with pre-construction surveys, construction monitoring, and environmental compliance monitoring; coordinate scheduling and ensure tasks stay on schedule and budget.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s degree in a related field (biology, ecology, etc.).
  • •4 years of relevant experience in desert environments, including desert tortoise and/or burrowing owl survey experience in southern California desert regions.
  • •Valid US Driver’s License and ability to pass pre-employment driving record verification.
  • •US Citizenship is required due to the nature of the work.
  • •Substantial field experience and training to safely and successfully conduct desert tortoise surveys and monitoring.
