Key Responsibilities

  • •Build and evolve Supabase’s JavaScript/TypeScript SDKs across supported runtimes.
  • •Start new SDK work by identifying missing pieces, building features not yet on a predefined list, and designing for long-term impact.
  • •Work in open source: triage issues, review and shepherd outside contributions, and maintain CI and release automation.
  • •Own the type experience so generated database types flow correctly through client APIs and remain accurate in real codebases.
  • •Track platform changes (auth, realtime, storage, postgrest, edge-runtime) and reflect updates through changelogs, plus design in public with RFCs, migration guides, and release notes.

Key Requirements

  • •Expert-level TypeScript experience, including generics plus conditional and mapped types, and the ability to explain inference failures.
  • •Experience authoring or maintaining a published library with a public API and external consumers, understanding the cost of breaking changes.
  • •Open-source maintenance experience: high-volume issue triage, reviewing outside PRs, release automation, changelogs, semver, security reports, and careful scope decisions.
  • •npm packaging fluency, including dual ESM/CJS builds, export maps, type resolution, semver discipline, and real-world consumer failure modes.
  • •Strong testing habits (unit, type-level, and end-to-end against a real stack) and excellent written communication via design docs, changelogs, and issue replies.
