Job Summary

Work at the interface of customer protein design models and Adaptyv’s automated wet lab. You’ll help scope protein design campaigns, advise on choosing appropriate design and prediction approaches, and translate experimental readouts (e.g., binding, expression, stability) into the next design iteration. Partner closely with customers to turn one-off experiments into iterative design-build-test cycles while feeding insights back to product, science, and platform teams.
Location: Switzerland
Workplace: Hybrid
Employment Type: Full time
Job Function: Research & Scientific (R&D)

Key Responsibilities

  • •Partner with customers to scope protein design campaigns by defining targets, success criteria, and experimental plans.
  • •Advise on design strategy by selecting appropriate models and methods (e.g., de novo design, diffusion models, protein language models, structure prediction, physics-based tools) and explaining limitations.
  • •Design experiments to test hypotheses, including what to express, what controls to include, and which assays address the scientific question.
  • •Analyze experimental results (binding, expression, stability) and translate data into the next round of designs, including use of biophysical characterization techniques such as SPR, BLI, and nanoDSF.
  • •Close the loop by turning campaign results into tighter iteration cycles and feeding learnings back to product, science, and platform teams.

Key Requirements

  • •Protein science background with a degree and/or hands-on experience in protein design, computational biology, biochemistry, structural biology, or a related field.
  • •Fluency in modern protein design and prediction models, with the ability to advise on which approaches to use for a given problem.
  • •Data-driven approach to analyzing experimental results and drawing conclusions from messy real-world data (Python, notebooks, basic stats).
  • •Strong communication skills and enthusiasm for solving hard problems alongside customers.
  • •Ability to form hypotheses, design experiments to test them, and iterate when a campaign isn’t working.
