Job Summary

Support Pratt & Whitney’s Mechanical Systems, Externals and Nacelles (MSEN) engineering module by performing structural analysis and validating hardware for advanced aircraft engines. Collaborate with integrated product teams across design, project, process, product definition, and maintenance to balance durability, performance, cost, and weight. Conduct test coverage evaluation using live instrumentation response and analyze data to program requirements, while presenting conclusions and coaching lower-level professionals.

Key Responsibilities

•Perform structural analysis of externals and mechanical systems hardware through preliminary/detailed design, validation, certification, and support of manufacturing and operational service.
•Serve as structures subject-matter expert on multi-discipline integrated product teams to deliver design solutions balancing durability, performance, cost, and weight.
•Evaluate validation test coverage by monitoring instrumentation response, post-processing test data, and assessing data against program requirements.
•Bring expertise to in-service field investigations and coach, review, and delegate work to lower-level professionals.
•Use Finite Element Analysis and classical methods for strength, stress/deflection, vibration, fatigue life, and damage tolerance; document and present analysis results to leaders and customers.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Civil Engineering.
•8 years of engineering experience, or an Advanced degree with 5 years of experience.
•Structural engineering background with proficiency in Finite Element Analysis, ANSYS, Workbench, and classical analytical methods.
