Key Responsibilities

  • •Inspect rail cars for proper placards, test dates, safety appliances, and damage or defects.
  • •Verify hazardous-material shipment compliance, including packaging, marking, labeling, shipping procedures, and documentation.
  • •Plan and complete periodic inspections of hazardous material handling at rail loading areas, including track protection and secured gates.
  • •Assist with product transfer alignments and participate in investigations of unintentional releases or serious incidents.
  • •Maintain a clean and safe work environment, wear required PPE, complete safety meetings/training, and complete required paperwork and logs.

Key Requirements

  • •High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • •Prior experience with federal regulations and standards for shipping hazardous materials by rail, including containerization, loading, handling, documentation, and placarding.
  • •Prior experience with rail and/or monitoring cargo transfers.
  • •Working knowledge of EPA/FRA/DOT/OSHA requirements for the work area.
  • •Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record; ability to obtain a TWIC card.
