Key Responsibilities

  • •Troubleshoot network equipment, replace defective components, and isolate issues to restore network service while proactively identifying potential problem areas.
  • •Perform installation/change/decommission and testing of next-generation technologies such as Edge Compute, Wavelength services, fiber optic transport, Ethernet, SONET, and IP network layers.
  • •Install and test network and customer equipment (CPE) to deliver end-user services, coordinating with other personnel as needed.
  • •Manage outside plant activities using industry-standard software/hardware to locate, mark, and protect underground facilities with accuracy; handle asset management and material replenishment.
  • •Complete level 1 preventive maintenance and inspections on network and critical infrastructure equipment, including HVAC and high-voltage electrical systems and DC power plants, and maintain inventory/time records.

Key Requirements

  • •2+ years’ experience installing, testing, and turning up telecommunications equipment including SONET, DCS, DWDM, routers, and switches.
  • •Strong technical and mechanical background with experience on transport gear and critical infrastructure including HVAC, high-voltage electrical systems, and DC power plants.
  • •Experience in at least two of: Transmission (DS1/DS3/SONET), Switching (circuit-switching/SS7), TCP/IP (routers/higher-layer protocols), and Outside Plant (fiber locating, OTDR, Mass Fusion Splicing).
  • •PC skills and proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office applications, plus ability to learn corporate databases.
  • •Valid driver’s license, satisfactory driving record, and ability to work in all weather conditions; high school diploma or GED required.
